Lemon Essential Oil is
antibacterial, antimicrobial and antiseptic!

Lemon essential oil is commonly known as a cleanser, but it has an amazingly wide variety of applications.  Here are some ideas to try in your own home.

  • Add lemon oil to drinking water to help reduce acidity in the body.  This can ease the symptoms of gout and rheumatism by helping to cleanse uric acid from the body.

  • Add lemon oil and a bit of stevia to water to make a refreshing lemonade.

  • Add lemon oil to your diffuser.  Diffused into the air, lemon oil has been shown to improve alertness, memory and productivity.

  • For coughs, colds , and throat or mouth infections, add a few drops of lemon oil to a glass of water and gargle.

  • Apply lemon oil topically to cold sores to help ease the pain and promote healing.

  • Add a few drops of lemon oil to a bath to add in easing symptoms of anxiety and depression.

  • To make a clean-smelling disinfectant spray, add 3-5 drops to water in a spray bottle.

  • Apply a few drops of lemon oil to remove gum stuck in hair or to get rid of gummy residue on glass.

  • Add a few drops of lemon oil to shampoo to clean greasy hair.

  • Apply lemon oil topically to cellulite or varicose veins.  Lemon oil promotes circulation.

  • Use lemon essential oil in your own homemade glass cleaner and wood cleaner.  Click here for recipes.

  • To reduce static electricity in your laundry, put 3-5 drops of lemon oil on a small rag and toss it in with the load in the dryer.

    Clove Essential Oil

    • Use Clove Oil in a diffuser or add drops to water in a spray bottle.  The aroma has been found to reduce drowsiness, depression, irritability and headaches.  It has also been reported to assist memory recall and to improve circulation.
    • Apply undiluted Clove Oil on small areas with fungus.  It can be used for many fungal conditions, including athlete's foot, nail and skin fungus, and ringworm.
    • To treat fungus in larger or more sensitive areas, add a few drops of Clove Oil to a carrier oil such as Almond Oil and apply to the affected area.  Never apply undiluted to broken skin.
    • For tooth pain, put 1-2 drops of Clove Oil on a cotton swab and apply to the tooth and the surrounding gum.
    • Place one drop of Clove Oil on the roof of the mouth to help relieve a headache.
    • Dip a cotton ball in Clove Oil and place it in your linen closet to act as an insect repellent.  You can add another citrus oil to it to change the scent as well.

    Drive the Blues Away!

I just discovered a delicious aroma--lemongrass!  I knew about using lemongrass for reducing fever, but I had never tried it in my diffuser.   Today I learned that lemongrass essential oil has been used to help eliminate bouts of depression, moodiness, nervousness, or anxiety.  Lemongrass can be applied to the temples or the bottom of the feet to stimulate blood flow, which helps relieve depression.  But it can also be used for aromatherapy.  I diffused it in my home today, and I really did enjoy the aroma. It was very pleasant and relaxing.  According to Beeyoutiful, "diffusing lemongrass in your home can help drive the blues away!"
