Citronella Essential Oil

100% pure cymbopogon winterianus

  • Diffuse Citronella Oil in a patio area to repel insects outdoors.
  • Mix Citronella Oil with Almond Oil and apply to a cotton ball or paper towel.  Lightly wipe furniture or doorways to help repel pests.
  • Make your own insect repellent spray by adding 30-60 drops of Citronella Oil to 3 ounces of distilled water in a spray mist bottle.  Shake well before use to avoid burning sensitive skin.
  • Add 5-10 drops of Citronella Oil to your lotion, sunscreen or shampoo to repel ticks.
  • Diffuse Citronella Oil in a sickroom during and after contagious illnesses.
  • Add a few drops of Citronella Oil to bathwater to help disinfect the skin after an illness.
  • Add a few drops to a carrier oil such as Almond Oil and use as a massage oil to help reduce fever.

Essential Oils for Spiders

These are a few of the essential oils spiders hate most:
Orange
Lemon
Lavender
Cassia
Peppermint
Citronella
Eucalyptus

Thanks to Steve Tallent for this spider repellent recipe and how-to:
"A mixture of any or all of them should do the trick. I personally take no chances and mix a bit of all of them together in varying ratios until it smells good. Grab a reusable spray bottle and squirt a bit of natural dish soap (just a tiny bit, not much is needed), a small splash of white vinegar, pour in the essential oil mixture and add a couple cups of water. Shake thoroughly and then go to town spraying down any and all surfaces that you want protected. I’ve been known to spray down the floor around our beds as an extra measure of protection. We have diffused eucalyptus essential oil in high concentrations in closed-off rooms for a few hours at a time and come back to find all the spiders in there curled up dead. It’s well worth it to get rid of a known spider issue inside a house!"
