Berry Well

Berry Well is another of our family favorites previously featured in this blog.

Berry Well is a fruity-tasting syrup containing organic elderberries, raw honey, organic echinacea root extract, organic apple cider vinegar, and bee propolis.

Elderberries provide anthocyanins, immune system enhancers that attack many strains of influenza A and B, without the side effects or complications of a flu shot.

Bee propolis and organic echinacea are both considered powerful natural antibiotics.

We take Berry Well at the first sign of sniffles, and colds and respiratory infections are nipped in the bud. We have even found it helpful when symptoms are caused by allergies. Click here to read one family's story of sinus and allergy problems that were relieved by Berry Well.

Tummy TuneUp

We've mentioned Tummy TuneUp on our blog before, but this product is so good that it's worth mentioning again and again!

Beeyoutiful Tummy TuneUp is a combination of eight different species of beneficial bacteria (including lactobacillus acidophilus) designed to support gastrointestinal health and immune system function.

We have used Tummy TuneUp for many stomach storms and can personally testify to its effectiveness. It's great for indigestion, nausea, diarrhea, and gas pain. It comes in an enterically-coated VCap and is easy to swallow. For those who can't swallow capsules, it can be easily opened so that the powdery contents can be sprinkled into a drink, on to food, or directly into the mouth. (It's best not to add it to anything hot since heat may kill the beneficial bacteria.)

Even babies with colic-y tummies can take Tummy TuneUp! Mommy can apply it before nursing OR add 1/2 of a capsule to baby's bottle OR sprinkle 1/2 of a capsule directly into baby's mouth.

Attention, Allergy-Sufferers!

Attention, allergy-sufferers!

I have to share this story that was shared by Millie Troth in her article entitled, "The Swiss Army Knife of Essential Oils: LAVENDER." Millie Troth can be reached by e-mail at GentleWinds@hotmail.com or by visiting http://www.e-oils-4-u.vibrantscents.com/.

Millie Troth: "I have a dear friend living in the state of Washington who used to suffer every spring from severe seasonal allergies. Once she started using the essential oils, she found she loved lavender so much that she would apply a drop on one wrist every morning and rub her two wrists together so she could smell it all day long. Well, spring came along two years ago and her husband finally mentioned to her that she had not had any of her normal seasonal allergy symptoms at all. The only thing she could attibute it to was the use of her lavender oil every day. She wrote me an overwhelmingly excited email telling me what had occurred and it made perfect sense to me. Lavender is known as a natural antihistamine. She had been unknowingly working on her body for nearly a year with a natural antihistamine and her response from it was no more suffering of allergies."

Wow! I haven't tried this yet, but I'll be suggesting this to the allergy-sufferers in my family.

A Little Chemistry

I recently read something very interesting about essential oils. This was written by Dr. David Stewart, PhD (http://www.carepublications.net/):

"Because of the tiny molecular structure of the components of an essential oil, they are extremely concentrated. One drop contains approximately 40 million-trillion molecules. Numerically that is a 4 with 19 zeros after it: 40,000,000,000,000,000,000. We have 100 trillion cells in our bodies, and that's a lot. But one drop of essential oil contains enough molecules to cover every cell in our bodies with 40,000 molecules. Considering that it only takes one molecule of the right kind to open a receptor site and communicate with the DNA to alter cellular function, you can see why even inhaling a small amount of oil vapor can have profound effects on the body, brain, and emotions."

With essential oils, a little goes a long way!

Thanks to Millie Troth for sharing this information. Millie Troth can be reached by e-mail at GentleWinds@hotmail.com or by visiting http://www.e-oils-4-u.vibrantscents.com/.

Bug Me Not

Bug Me Not is an all-natural insect repellent which uses essential oils to deter pests. The primary ingredients are Citronella Oil, Lemongrass Oil, Rosemary Oil, and Thyme Oil. It comes in a 4-ounce spray bottle and is easy to spritz on bare arms and legs and even clothing to help repel those annoying insects.

Because Bug Me Not is all-natural, you don't have to worry about chemical exposure to young skin, and it doesn't have to be washed off after any certain period of time. I love it for those times in the evenings when we run outside for just a few minutes to play or take a walk. It protects from mosquitoes and doesn't require another bath!

Essential Oils for Tendinitis

Tendinitis is the inflammation, irritation, and swelling of a tendon, which is the fibrous structure that joins muscle to bone. The swelling is uncomfortable which causes pain when the joint is moved. When the joint is a knee, walking is difficult.

The age-old acronym, RICE, helps us remember how to treat it: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.
I'd like to modify the acronym just a bit--RICE-EO!

We recently mixed some essential oils to apply to a swollen knee and were pleasantly surprised at how quickly the swelling was reduced.

Here's our recipe:
Add 5 drops of peppermint essential oil and 5 drops of lavender essential oil to 1 teaspoon of sweet almond essential oil. Apply to the swollen area.

It's a Miracle!

http://smithfamilyresources.com/products/miracle

Miracle Skin Salve is one of our family's favorite Beeyoutiful products! We have used it for chapped lips, skinned knees, sunburns, minor cuts, and even bruises. It really is a miracle!

Our favorite "miracle" involves sunburn. Our family enjoyed an air show in April one year, sitting all day under the hot sun. Our faces, shoulders, and arms were quite burned. We started applying Miracle right away. Within days, we noticed that the areas we treated with Miracle did not peel, while any forgotten area did. My daughter applied Miracle to her face but didn't want to get it in her hair. As a result, the only place she peeled was right around her hairline. Others who were with us that day treated their sunburn with aloe and other moisturizers; they all peeled. Now we keep Miracle on hand all the time. We keep a container in the kitchen, one in the bathroom, one in my purse, and one in our camping first aid kit!

Miracle's primary ingredients are coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, bee propolis, organic plantain leaf, organic comfrey root, organic calendula flowers, and essential oils of lavender and rosemary. Beeyoutiful's suggested uses: "Apply directly to minor skin irritations or injuries. Miracle is designed to promote tissue repair for minor cuts, scrapes, bites, burns and some skin maladies like psoriasis, eczema, cold sores and skin fungi."
